Hello Fellow Freebie Fans,
My son started 2nd grade today and things went pretty smoothly
this morning. He woke up without a problem, got dressed on his
own and was ready for breakfast. I think it’s the excitement
of the first day because I know once we are back into a routine,
I will fighting with him to get out of bed.
Things are very different now, from when I was in school. Think
about this… When we were in school we didn’t have the internet.
We had to go to the library and look it up in the card catalog.
(Do they even have those anymore?) We didn’t have email. My
mother had to write a note if I was home sick, being picked up
by someone else that day or whatever the reason she needed to
let the teacher know something. There were no hot lunches. We
had to eat a sandwich every day of the week.
Even though things are easier for the kids now, they are also
easier for the parents. My son’s school has an online parent
portal. Everyday I can log on to my son’s account and see what
they did that day, if he misbehaved, any tests scores, what
homework he has for the day or even what he ate for lunch. It’s
like having my very own spy in the classroom. I know he’ll try
to pull one over on me when it comes to his homework, but little
does he know I’ll already know.
All My Best,
Fannie
