Well it’s official!

This year we decided to take the kids to Disney. I already
booked the hotel and bought our airline tickets. Now all I
have to do is figure out what parks we want to go to and
what other things we want to do. This is their first time
going and I want to get in as much as possible. We’ll
probably need another week off just to recover and relax!

Hello Fellow Freebie Fans,

Last week I was off work on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
It’s always nice to have a few days off but it seems like
you pay for it when you get back. The first thing I did was
grab a cup of coffee. I can’t even think about starting the
day without one.

For the first hour or so, I went through my email. Boy, can
the junk mail accumilate fast when you’ve been gone for a
few days. Then I spent most of the day catching up and getting
back into routine. And now, near the end of the day, I’m tired.
I can’t wait to pick the kids up, get home, make dinner, do
homework, and give baths. On second thought… that sounds like
more work than what I did all day!

Hello Fellow Freebie Fans,

Every February, across the country, candy, flowers, and gifts
are exchanged between loved ones, all in the name of St.
Valentine. But who is this mysterious saint and why do we
celebrate this holiday?

Legend has it that Valentine was a priest who served during
third century Rome. There was an Emperor at that time by the
name of Claudius II. Emperor Claudius II decided that single
men made better soldiers than those that were married. With
this thought in mind he outlawed marriage for young men in
hopes of building a stronger military base. Supposedly,
Valentine, decided this decree just wasn’t fair and chose to
marry young couples secretly. When Emperor Claudius II found
out about Valentine’s actions he had him put to death.

Another legend has it that Valentine was an imprisoned man who
fell in love with his jailor’s daughter. Before he was put to
death he sent the first ‘valentine’ himself when he wrote her
a letter and signed it ‘Your Valentine’, words still used on
cards today.

Perhaps we’ll never know the true identity and story behind
the man named St. Valentine, but this much is for sure…
February has been the month to celebrate love for a long time,
dating clear back to the Middle Ages. In fact, Valentines ranks
second only to Christmas in number of greeting cards sent.

Another valentine gentleman you may be wondering about is Cupid
(Latin cupido, “desire”). In Roman mythology Cupid is the son
of Venus, goddess of love. His counterpart in Greek mythology
is Eros, god of love. Cupid is often said to be a mischievous
boy who goes around wounding both gods and humans with his
arrows, causing them to fall in love.

For the past week I’ve been feeling under the weather
with a lingering cold that I just won’t go away. I’ve
tried Tylenol Cold, Theraflu, Nyquil, hot tea, hot
showers and alot of sleep. The only thing that came
close to making me feel better were the hot showers.
As much as I would love to, I just can’t stay in the
shower for the entire week. So I’ll just have to stick
it out until it’s gone.

Hello Fellow Freebie Fans,

I wish my 8-year-old son would put as much effort into his
schoolwork as he does to a new video game.

For the past month my son has been saving his money to buy
a new video game. On Saturday, we went to the store, bought
it and came home. I sat and watched him for a little while
and was amazing how fast he figured out how to play. I told
him he should learn his math and spelling that quickly.

I tried explaining how education is going to play a big part
in his future and he needs to do well in school. I’m afraid
that despite my best efforts I’ve finally become a grown-up
and more like my parents everyday.

Here’s an interesting bit of trivia I just read… If you
were to take all the blood vessels in an average adult and
lay them out in one line, about how long would the line be?

20,000 miles? 50,000? 70,000? Maybe even 100,000 miles?

The correct answer, incredibly enough, is 100,000 miles!
You could circle the Earth over FOUR times with that much
blood vessel. It just makes you think about how incredibly
complicated your own body is, doesn’t it?

With that much blood vessel in my body I wonder why the
nurse always has such a hard time finding one whenever I
go to give blood!
